A Welcome from Our Pastor:

Matt Hawkins and family
Monica, Matthew, Caleb, Jacob and Joshua

Welcome to the website of North Ridge Community Church, a fairly new church in the Auburn/Opelika area.

We invite you to take some time to look over the site and discover what North Ridge Community Church is all about. Then come and check us out one Sunday morning or, even better, come to one of our LifeGroups that meet throughout the week and experience for yourself what NRCC is all about. Your children will love the worship time designed for them on Sunday mornings and the special groups we have for kids meeting at the LifeGroup homes.

If you have some feedback for us about the site or one of our services you have attended, or if you have any questions, please contact us by clicking on the Contact tab at the top of this page. Thanks for visiting the website of NRCC, where truth and life come together.

- Matt Hawkins, Lead Pastor

About Our Pastor:

Matt Hawkins came to Auburn University in 1991 on a football scholarship. Through the influence of Athletes in Action, Matt became a follower of Jesus in the fall of 1992. He and his wife, formerly Monica Weaver of Auburn, met in the spring of 1995 and were married in March of 1996.

Football provided Matt with several opportunities to serve youth in the local area as well as opportunities to speak to youth throughout the state of Alabama. These opportunities led Matt to realize that God had called him into full time ministry. Having a great love for Auburn, Matt realized that the obvious choice for pastoral training was the seminary/internship program at Lakeview Baptist Church in Auburn. After three years of training, Matt and Monica moved to Maplesville, AL, where they served Hillcrest Baptist Church for four years.

Early on in Matt’s Christian life, he was impacted greatly by the relationships formed and the spiritual training found in small groups. After serving as a summer intern for three summers in different churches, Matt realized the need for a church to develop a structure based on small groups that would facilitate spiritual growth through the development of authentic relationships and ministry opportunities. This passion combined with a God-given longing to serve the Auburn/Opelika community brought Matt and his family back to Auburn to start North Ridge Community Church.
